The aim of the Malthouse Friends is to gather together a group of like-minded volunteers to support St Matthew Housing’s work at the Malthouse. Friends can participate as much or as little as they wish by helping to plan and organise events, attending regular meetings and helping to run functions. These will vary from art and craft workshops to history talks and charity events.
The project may appeal to people who have an interest in heritage and those who can contribute historical knowledge and ideas.
The more active Friends may enjoy having the opportunity to work in the Heritage Centre or café alongside our staff and residents.
Some Friends may wish to become a member receiving newsletters and invitations to events rather than actively participating in the Friends group. The annual membership is £25 per person and £35 per couple.
No matter how you are involved your support is always welcome to make the Malthouse something we can all be proud of. As a friend you will know that you are helping us sustain and develop a great building.
The Malthouse Project provides training for our residents, tours for visitors and local schools, and creates a community hub in the middle of Bury St Edmunds. At whatever level you support us your contribution will make a difference to people, place and community.
